A Weekend of Competition, Camaraderie, and Airgun Passion

“Thank you to everyone who made the trip and spent the time and money to join us for three days of competition and camaraderie. It means the world to us. Whether you drove down the road or crossed state lines, you showed up ready to shoot and share some laughs with old and new friends alike.”

We had 26 competitors travel from Nevada, Washington, Northern and Southern California, and of course Oregon. Some familiar faces, some brand new ones, exactly what this sport needs.

Randy had our targets ready to go well ahead of time, and they performed flawlessly throughout the weekend, zero failures and fresh paint every day. Laurie kept everyone hydrated and well-fed, which made all the difference in the warm weather. And our sponsors, Athlon Optics, JSB Pellets, and AEA/Pellet Shop, filled the prize table with great gear for the competitors.

“The wind god kept us guessing, swirling mostly in the 2–5 mph range, just enough to make you second guess those hold-offs. There’s no shame in a split hit that doesn’t fall, we all had them!” — Wayne Burns

We built a new 36 Troyer course for 2025, designed to challenge both ranging and wind reading skills, from tiny 9/16” kill zones at 10 yards to 1-1/2” out past 50 yards.

Pistol Day: Tricky Winds and Tight Scores

Friday afternoon we tackled the pistol course, ten lanes, three targets each, two shots per target, 60 shots total on another warm Southern Oregon day.

Rifle Days: A True Test of Skill

Team AirGun Oregon during Day One rifle: Randy Ebersole, Bill Galloway, and Wayne Burns.

Saturday and Sunday brought out the rifles and a whole different kind of challenge. Seventeen lanes, three targets per lane, one shot each, 51 chances per day to make it count. The new 36 Troyer course wasn’t built to hand out easy points. Small kill zones and tricky ranges kept everyone honest, and the swirling winds that teased us on Friday came back with attitude on both rifle days.

Despite all that, the shooting decks were buzzing with energy and teamwork. Spotters and shooters traded wind calls, competitors gave a thumbs-up when a lane was cleared, and everyone was just as quick to laugh about a missed target as they were to celebrate a knockdown. That’s what makes these events, good competition and better company.
